Bio

Penny Walker-Keefe is an emerging exhibiting artist and handmade designer based in Melbourne. Penny studied at RMIT University and has a Dip Arts in Studio textiles and design, majoring in experimental textiles and minoring in weaving.

In 2007 Penny’s work from her graduate exhibition was selected by Craft Victoria and exhibited in their annual awards show Fresh!

Unable to decide on following art or product design, Penny does a bit of both. Combining her love of fabric, sewing, paper and experimental craft, her work crosses over between interior decorating, textile design, handcrafted products and fine art.

Her signature handmade bangles are a result of noticing a gap in the market of colourful, interesting, non-chain store ones. Made from hand woven braids and recycled fabric, bangles are made in batches and are available in selected shops and online.

Penny has exhibited in several group shows and in 2009 hosted Heirloom, her first solo exhibition. She is currently working towards Notes, at Brunswick Street Gallery.

You can view her professional biography and artwork in the art section and follow her movements on her blog.
